Creative Writing Tips - Write What You Love
Creative Writing Tips - Write What You LoveThere are so many creative writing tips out there. Every day, I receive a new idea for my writing. I have to remember to use them when I am writing fiction and some tips for non-fiction too.The first tip for the creative writer is the one that most people will use when they start writing. Learn to take criticism. You can't please everyone. If you are writing for someone else, you can't please them either. One problem that most writers encounter is when an individual's criticism does not resonate with their own opinion. Sometimes, this is perfectly acceptable. Sometimes, it is inappropriate. We must learn to balance our writing style with the style of the person we are writing for.So when someone says that they agree with your style of writing, and in your response you can agree with their criticism, think carefully about what they are saying. You have a tendency to agree with them, only to realize that you were agreeing with them because you were tired or frustrated or both.Once you know how to say 'I understand your point,' you have completed the whole purpose of writing the letter. Then you can move on to another person's writing style. You will no longer be telling the person what he/she should be doing.A second creative writer tip is to write about what you know. We are all surrounded by information, but we are not all born with an innate knowledge of every aspect of life. We have to make up our minds about what we want to know and then seek it out. And the best way to do this is to write about what you know. When I was young, I wrote short stories. My dad, who was a lawyer, would often give me ideas for my stories. He knew I could be a lawyer if I wanted to, so he was always willing to help me find the parts of life that I did not understand.Another tip for the creative writer is to write what you love. I did not become a writer because I needed the money. When I was young, I would spend hours writing or playing mus ic just because I enjoyed it.
